The AMM
3D-GOLF System is a real-time, six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) motion
capture system that measures and analyzes the biomechanics of the
golf swing. It uses high speed electromagnetic sensors; eight times
faster than standard video; to track the motion of each body segment
and the club; plus the powerful TPI 3D golf biomechanics software
to analyze the results. During setup, an accurate alignment procedure
aligns each sensor to the anatomy of its respective body segment producing
dynamic values specific to that golfer’s body. It is available
in partial or full body versions.
Once the swing motion is captured it can be viewed and animated from
any angle even from under the floor! This allows the instructor and
golfer to review the swing in an even more comprehensive way than
video can do.
Flexible screen layouts can be displayed within seconds after each
swing allowing the expert to immediately review the animation and
biomechanical values. These values can be compared to the supplied
PGA, LPGA and Champions’ Tour databases and a complete table
of all parameters at the key points in the swing highlights whether
the golfer is in or out of range at each point; this feature is great
for pinpointing specific issues quickly. You can also create a database
from the golfer’s own swings; allowing you to implement swing
changes and see if you in fact did change the things you were intending
to. |
From
an analysis perspective the TPI 3D software produces a comprehensive
biomechanics report that includes the following features:
|
Key timing values of the kinematic sequence plus important acceleration
variations, |
| |
|
|
Individual joint loading, stretch and timing characteristics
during the transition phase; also known as the stretch-shorten
cycle, |
| |
|
|
Pelvis and thorax (upper body) dynamic stability; featuring
all 6DOF; sway, thrust, lift, rotation, bend and side bend,
|
| |
|
|
Dynamic
range of motion throughout the swing for body segments and joints, |
| |
|
|
Body
posture at key points in the swing (address, top, impact and
finish), |
| |
|
|
Important
wrist and club pre-impact characteristics not currently measured
by any other system in the world! |
On top of all this; since the AMM 3D-Golf system captures in real-time;
biofeedback audio tones can be used to train and correct any issues
that have been found from the biomechanics report.

The
Kinematic Sequence
The graph shows the kinematic sequence curves for pelvis,
thorax, lead arm and club. The images show the position of
the body at each peak segment speed during the downswing.

Analysis Systems - 8 OR 12 SENSOR: |
|
An AMM
12-sensor system is the minimum number required to create a full-body
biomechanical model of the golfer's swing, including the club. TPI
3D software is munted on 8 or 12 sensor (240Hz/sensor) Motion captuer
units. |

TPI-3D
Golf Analysis and Reporting Software: |
|
This
is a skill-specific software package that analyzes the biomechanics
of the golf swing. When motion is captured using AMM's4. 8 or 12-sensor
systems it produces all the 3D kinematic parameters of a golfer's
swing. Knowledge of the golfer's kinematics combined with the real-time
motion biofeedback capability of the AMM 3D-GOLF enables the system
to be used as a very effective training tool. |
